About
Hello!
There is a common fear of growing older and not using your time wisely. I came to the realization that I have already fallen into this nightmare. More than 20 years I grew up in a flat beige landscape with nothing but suburban neighborhoods inhabited by cows. In that 20 years I only went to school pursuing something I really didn’t want to do and stayed inside to play video games so there wasn’t much growth or experiencing in that time. Only a few years ago I finally came back to what I think life really is. I moved back to the city for a better way of living and to start a new chapter in my life with photography. Photography has filled my void with light, color, purpose, and gateway to get to know other like minded people. Photography for me now is something that not only anchors me mentally but is also pushing me to catch up in life with everything I missed. In the past few years I have seen more landscapes and made progress in my life than in that 20 years.
When it comes to my photography I like to focus on enjoying my time in that space, while also taking pictures to document my experience. To me, I think it’s important to know context, especially when it comes to my pictures. Yes everyone loves a pretty landscape with a sunset but I focus on the little things in the background that people don’t realize they see and feel when looking at my photographs. Elements in my photos such as a lines of a shadow leading you to the main subject of the photograph, a glimmer of color on the other side of the picture drags your eye to see another story happening in the background. I keep track of little things like this to keep people interested and glued to a photograph. It gives the viewer a better experience because the get to live in a visual story of the exact experience I had the blessing to take part in.
What I’m working towards is eventually having my passion fund my passion. I have a better time covering stories that have substance, give curiosity, are informative, and are more impactful to a cause. I’m at the point in my photography to where I want to do something more with it. I love seeing people smile and laugh when I show them a portrait of them, that alone fuels me with the drive to keep creating. I would love to take it to the next level by covering bigger stories and documenting hidden or unknown places. Sharing my experiences and informing people is what I dream to do with photography.
